smiling's your favorite

Dear Simon,
Can I just say you are my favorite age?!

Here are some things you love:
Smiling,

Watermelon,

Food,

Great grandpa Hal,

Bouncy Houses,

Balls,

Climbing,

Haircuts (not),

Swinging,

You also love...Golden first b-days on May 1,

Cards, presents and cake,

being a king for a meal,

bathtime (you get the fewest baths since you're the 3rd kid-sorry!)

Unfolding laundry and pulling out Tupperware at the fastest rate possible,

grocery shopping so you can eat more food,

Olivia and Cate,

boogers and smiling again.

There are a lot more people who love you too!
love,
mom

sleep is overrated

Dear Simon,
You've reached so many milestones...
You sit up...

You roll balls...

You flap your arms...

You met Pleasant Hill Santa Clause...

You've bonded with Papa and Landon...

You've had your first virus so Olivia made you a get-well card with a giraffe on it...

You've experienced Olivia's tickles, which are pretty rough and they hurt...

You haven't slept through the night a single time...

You played with Grandpa Hal...

You don't stay in the Bumbo anymore...

Your hair was red for awhile...

You've had a lot of looks...

You snuggled with Great grandma Junice...

Bonded with Aunt Amber...

Played with Nana and Isabelle...

Played with dad...

Went from cute...

To handsome...

And your best bud will stay close to you.

And you met great grandpa Hal for the very first time.

We love you Simon Hal!

hi simon!

Dear Simon,

Since you're a boy, you may not be interested in all the events around your birth.
So I will be brief...

May 1, 2015...Your due date...

7 am  Snoop's grooming appt.

11:00 Mom's Appointment
  Contractions 15 minutes apart
Ultrasound good - not admitted to hospital

1:30  Called dad, told him to come home pretty soon
Dad checks on Snoop, he is still getting groomed

2:30 Hospital
  Contractions 6 minutes apart
Nurse says she'll give me an hour to get more dilated than a 4.
She will send me home if I'm not.

One hour later...
"If you're not dilated more, I'm going to send you home.  Do you want me to wait to check one more hour?" -Threatening nurse
I really just wanted an epidural.

Doctor comes in, admits me and says "let's have this baby."

7 pm
Anesthesiologist gives epidural, doc breaks water, umbilical cord wrapped around your head and you're lying on the cord...

Emergency C-section.  The ER crew swarms in, nurse holds your head off cord in surgery.
Tears.
In my head-think of a verse, any verse.
Whispering- "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you."
Incision--ouch.  Epidural didn't work quickly enough.
"I felt that."
"Ok we'll put you out."
"Thanks."

2 hours later...
I got to hold you and my first thought was, "Wow he was worth it."
So happy to see you alive:)

My second thought was, "I'm never doing that again."

Our neighbor picked up Snoop from his grooming appt, in case you wondered.
I was itchy for 24 hours from the anesthesia.

 Šimʻôn, "God has heard."

Olivia can't wait to play Simon Says with you:)

love,
mom
